Lullabies

Sorry that my question is late, but I would love to know some of your favorite lullabies. We sing a lot of the primary songs, which I love, but lately one of my favorite has been this beautiful song by Billy Joel. The lyrics are just perfect for me and my kids. Please let me know some of the songs you like to sing or listen to that remind you of your kids because we're always looking for more great music!

When my kids were little, I used to sing "You are My Sunshine" and "A, You're Adorable."

We also loved "Tell Me Why" (Tell me why the stars do shine, tell me why the ivy twines, tell me why the sky's so blue, and I will tell you just why I love you. Because God made the stars to shine, Because God made the ivy twine. Because God made the sky so blue Because God made you--that's why I love you. Now I know why God above sent you to me for me to love. He picked you out from all the rest because God knew Mommy and Daddy would love you best."

And finally, I would sing Ain't She Sweet (I called it Ain't [my child's name] Sweet) and I would also sing Let Me Call You Sweetheart." I changed the words here, too.

If you're looking for a great CD for lullabies, I would recommend A Child's Gift of Lullabies. One side is just instrumental and the second side has a woman singing with words. It is lovely.

My kids are 12 and 16. I miss the days of lullabies.

i always want more lullabies too since i feel like i sing the same thing all the time. Mayli loves You Are My Sunshine, Parker's bedtime song is Give Said the Little Stream (not sure how that happened, haha), and Jaden love Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. So... i guess that wasn't much help!

I used to insist on singing primary songs at bedtime...their 3 favorites were "I love to see the Temple", "I am a Child of God", and "I Belong to the Church of Jesus Christ."

Now my son insists I sing "Take me out to the ball game!" It's not much of a lullaby but it sure makes him happy!

I sing primary songs, but I also sing a few Christmas songs all year. My favorites to use as a lullably include "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem," "When Joseph Went to Bethlehem," and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear."
