Ok... Brian and I were talking about this. Does everyone give their teachers a gift? I always remember giving my teacher something but I have no idea what the norm is now or what type of gift is appropriate.
Hi! I think this is a great question. As a teacher, my favorite gifts were thank you notes. If you write a personal thank you that says how much you appreciate all their hard work and give specific examples of why your child loves that teacher, I guarantee they will love it and save that card to read on a rotten day. I know I did. Best of all, it's free! :)

So, I know that this might be weird, but we're giving our ECFE teacher treats with the church's Nativity DVD. I know it might be weird if you don't know if the person is religious or not, but we know our teacher well enough to think she'll like it - well, hopefully!
I like to give a homemade treat, like this year we are making white-chocolate covered pretzels covered in Christmas sprinkles. They look festive in a clear bag with ribbons on top. It doesn't cost much but they are so yummy and it shows you care. I do think you have to at least do something, whether it's a note or gift, they work hard!
Oh, these are great! I hadn't read any of these before I went shopping today, and I succumbed to the (very small) gift card route, thinking I'd add 7 Layer Bars to personalize it. I'm definitely going to write a thank you note as well!
Our school doesn't allow homemade treats to be given to the kids, but I didn't think the teachers had a problem with them. I hope not, what a sad world! I hate storebought cookies!

i'm a gift card giver - i've surveyed several teacher friends and that was the unanimous choice...
