Travel with Kids

With December being a major travel month I was curious if you have any great tips on how you travel with kids...whether in the car or on a plane what tricks of the trade do you have?

Good question! I need tips for this too!
We usually fly when we travel (well we drive to Eau Claire, but that is only an hour and a half away so I don't consider it traveling).
But when we fly we always make sure we have plenty of snacks and we buy some juice after we pass through security.
We also bring Parker's LeapFrog games, DoodlePros, a CD player with kids music, and Brian's laptop with head phones and a kids dvd. So if the kids don't fall asleep they can usually be entertained pretty good with all this stuff.

When we fly to wisconsin its a 2 1/2 hour flight to MN, then a layover and then an hour flight into centeral wisconsin. We bring our laptop with lots of kids movies, I take suckers, fruit snacks, coloring books and crayons, there fav. stuffed animal and a sippy full of juice. And I say a prayer! :)

Why haven't they invented a teleporting device - am I that dorky that I wish for some of the Star Trek things to be real? I don't have any tips that are very earth-shattering, but we love movies and we always get a new little book or activity book for Rachel which will keep her occupied for a while. We got this sticker book for our last trip that was a huge lifesaver. And, due to some bouts with air-sickness we also use the pediatrician-recommended 1/2 tablet of Dramamine (a sedate toddler isn't a bad thing on a plane!). Also, they didn't make me empty kids drinks in either MN or SLC this time to go through security. So, don't do it unless they ask you to!

DVD player, dum dums, silly putty, tons of snacks - really truly it all comes down to the DVD player for us - what did our parents DO without them?? unfortunately you can't just throw the kids in the back of the covered truck bed with some pillows like you and shawn in the "old days"!!
